Looking up words uses no credits. Online translation of a sentence does: Pro includes 25,000 credits a month, enough for about 50 pages of Chinese. A credit is one character of text, with at least 20 for each sentence, and each translation engine you choose counts separately. Translating the same sentence again soon after uses no credits. You can use up to 20,000 credits in one day. Unused credits carry over to the next month, and then expire.
Everything that runs on your computer uses no credits: LiveScan, Highlight, the offline voice, Favorites and export. When the credits run out, online translation pauses until they renew, and the rest of Pro keeps working.
